Frequently Asked Questions
You asked, we answered. Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition.
1. Can my students receive certification for completing Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition?
Yes, they can! With your Foundations in Personal Finance purchase comes access to our Foundations Certification Quiz. If your students score 80% or above on the quiz, they’ll receive a Certificate of Achievement immediately upon completion of the quiz. Students can download and print the Certificate to turn in to you, hang in their locker or take home to their parents.
2. How long does it take to teach Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition?
Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition is designed as a semester long course with stand-alone chapters. We provide you with both a 90-day and 45-day syllabus you can choose from. However, if you don’t need a full semester course, the stand-alone chapters allow you to make the course fit YOUR schedule and not the other way around.
3. What is On Demand Video?
On Demand Video is an exciting Foundations feature that allows teachers and students to access the curriculum videos anytime, anywhere, using any device with a modern browser. It’s a great resource for flipped instruction, absent students, and parent involvement as well.
4. What’s included in the Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition Teacher’s Guide?
The Teacher’s Guide is your roadmap for the curriculum. It provides guidance on when to play the videos, what discussion to lead based on those videos and gives you activities to print and use in the classroom. The CD-ROM on the inside cover is where all of the activities are kept in PDF format. There are 5-9 activities per chapter, and they encourage your students to practice the skills you are teaching them in class. This is also where you’ll find the syllabi options and pre-made lesson plans. The CD-ROM also includes TestGen® software along with a question bank to help you build tests, so you don’t have to build them from scratch.
5. What’s the difference between using the softcover Student Texts versus the online digital format using the custom built FoundationsDigital learning platform?
First, both formats deliver the same world class curriculum along with the same activities, case studies, discussion questions and interactive instruction tools that accompany the materials.

The softcover student texts are designed to guide the students while watching the curriculum videos in the classroom and then provide reinforced instruction through additional reading materials and activities. The student text is 284 pages and is a great resource for the students to keep and reference after the class concludes.

The digital format of Foundations in Personal Finance is built in our FoundationsDigital platform. It contains the same great curriculum and content as the softcover texts, but with a few slight modifications to optimize the fully online format. Students take all the quizzes and formative assessments online, and they are all fully auto-graded and instantly available to view in the built-in gradebook. The FoundationsDigital platform is built to save you time and allow for a more customized learning experience for the students. For a full list of features, go to FoundationsDigital.com.

Your district may require training, but most Foundations teachers tell us that they learn right along with their students as they listen to Dave Ramsey and his team of experts featured in the chapter videos.
9. How can I use both Foundations in Entrepreneurship and Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition in my classroom?
Foundations in Entrepreneurship and Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition are extremely flexible and can easily be used together in a variety of ways. Since both curricula were built with stand-alone units, you can mix in topics from Entrepreneurship or Personal Finance in any order you would like. By teaching both curricula to your high school students, they will learn not only how to manage wisely the money they earn, but also how to build a business and start making money early in life.
10. How is Foundations in Personal Finance: High School Edition different from the Foundations in Personal Finance: Middle School Edition?
The high school edition is different content from the middle school edition. The middle school edition provides the perfect introduction to personal finance and entrepreneurial topics for students in grades 6-8 before taking our in-depth high school course. Our middle school curriculum plants the seed for students to begin budgeting, saving and planning for their future with plenty of time to save before buying a car, going to college, and living on their own.
